How to Care for Your Hardscape Pavers

Chris D. • January 20, 2022

According to Bobvila.com, homeowners who are considering selling their home in the near future can add up to 20% to the overall value of their home with good landscape designs. With this statistic in mind, it is easy to see why landscapes, hardscapes, and general curb appeal are so important and why homeowners need to be mindful of the care and upkeep of their yards and landscapes.

There are many ways to add to the look and feel of your existing landscape design to make it better without calling for a full redo. Adding hardscape pavers for a simple patio area, a natural-looking walking path, or another accent point is a great way to improve the look and appeal of your garden space. However, knowing how to care for these hardscape pavers is just as important!

Be Mindful of Leveling

When you are first laying down your pavers, you must take care to ensure the ground is as level as possible. Even on a sloping lawn, the individual pavers need to be as flat as possible. This will help avoid stress pints and reduce the risk of cracks forming over time.

Don't Rush the Installation

It can be tempting to rush through the installation, so you can enjoy the look of your hardscape pavers and how they pop. But rushing through and skipping steps can lead to bigger issues down the road that can affect the appearance of the pavers.

Consider Grass Options

If you are not laying the pavers edge to edge, you can expect grasses and plants to grow between them. You can either use ground clearing treatments to keep anything from growing there, or you can go for a more natural look and let the grass grow through.

Choose Quality Materials

There are many types of stones and other materials that can be used to make pavers. Choosing ones that fit with your landscape design and the overall theme is important as if finding materials that will hold up to your level of wear and tear and use.
